Today is ‘Opening Day’ in Major League Baseball (minus the games played in Japan, they don’t count). I am an avid baseball fan even though my team is rarely a contender (Go Royals!). This off-season and many of the previous seasons have be covered in scandals, primarily steroids. Is anyone else sick of this? Steroids in baseball doesn’t make me as made as the United States Congress deciding that it is more important to figure if steroids are in baseball than fixing the country’s problems (Lord knows we have enough). Why is the Congress a part of this? This is a MLB problem, not a national security issue. The people that should decide what to do about steroids in any sport are the fans. I remember the strike in the mid nineties and when the strike was over fans did not return to the ball park. If fans disagree with steroids in baseball that much they will not buy tickets. If this were only true. The average attendance of baseball games has been increasing season after season but polls of fans say they do not think steroids belong in baseball. MLB and the Players Association need to get a handle on the situation in a hurry before more athletes and families are hurt. How did MLB go from being America’s favorite past time to America’s favorite drama on television? Steroids need to stop in all professional sports to protect the integrity of the sport, the athlete and the athletes that made the sport what it is today.
Opening Day Or Opening Joke
April 1, 2008 by delraycapperWhy Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday?
November 23, 2007 by delraycapperWe are just a day removed from Thanksgiving the Christmas season is in full swing. That makes me sick. Before Halloween arrived I walked into Wal-Mart to there greeters wearing Santa hats saying ‘Merry Christmas’ and Christmas music playing. RIDICULOUS! This is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is the only holiday that hasn’t become so commercialized that we forget what it means. A day we gather to enjoy the four ‘F’s, family, friends, food and football. A day were we actually take time thank the good Lord for all he has given to us the past year. A day to tell your family and friends thanks for being there. A day to see the Lions get beat on Thanksgiving day, again.
Today, Christmas is about the 5 AM sale the day after Thanksgiving at Wal-Mart. That makes me sick! Its seems like ever year you will hear of people being trampled to get in the front doors of their favorite store. Or fights for the last fade product on the shelf. I’m sorry but I am pretty sure that is not what our Lord had in mind when we celebrate his birthday.
For the past few years I have been avoiding all retail shops that believe they should be included in the true meaning of Christmas. I will not leave my house on ‘Black Friday’ and if you feel the same way I encourage you to do the same. Thanks for reading this posting of random ones and zeros.
Ron Paul
November 22, 2007 by delraycapperMy friends keep trying to tell me that I need to vote for Ron Paul because he is the only man that has different ideas from all of the other candidates. Many of Dr. Paul’s ideas I like but some of them are so outrages that I don’t think there is anyway he could get them pass congress, that body of government that sits around arguing about policy and accomplishing nothing, and if he did get it passed would it work? I don’t like paying taxes as much as the next person but getting rid of the IRS altogether I do not think is the answer.
I love Dr. Paul’s ideas on education, border control, and taxes. Some of his other ideas on foreign policy seem more like the times of isolationism, which if we remember caused this country some grief in the past.
Overall I think Ron Paul is for change, BIG CHANGE! Right now I think big change is what this country needs because we have been going the wrong direction for a long time (even before the Bush 2.0). Cast your vote on the poll to let me know what you think of Ron Paul and his ideas. Thanks for reading this posting of random ones and zeros.
